A Mad Mum – POEM

I really get annoyed when you call me a mad mum

When you really don’t know what kind of day I’ve had

I’m an organised person, Truly I am

But my mornings are a whirlwind, regardless how hard I prep

If we swapped positions for even just one day

The mad mum phrase wouldn’t come to play

I wake up with the best intentions

But my eyes are glued together

My youngest has had me up half the night

I make coffee and start on their breakfast

Its only 6am but there’s peace in the house

It’s the best time to get anything done

So away I go getting a head start on the day.

While getting myself together I take a look in the mirror

I swear there weren’t this many greys yesterday!

Lunches are done fresh

But the kids still aren’t dressed

I go into the lounge room & find them captivated by the TV

The clothes still sit there folded nice and neat

TV goes off buts there’s still a constant barking of orders

To try and get everyone ready in time for school

Kids fighting over anything and everything

The noise level has reached fever pitch

I can’t find that permission slip

I know I filled out yesterday!

Off to school we go, now fighting for a parking spot

At times I wish my kids were older enough to do

The drop and go, oh hell where do I go?!

After the morning rush

I race around putting on loads of washing,

Making beds and cleaning up while writing out a grocery list

Out I go

Facing the fast pace shoppers

Rushing around everywhere,

Thinking they’re the only ones that have a place to be

Or is that just me?

I try to buy the best for our bodies

Showing the kids, the healthiest way to live

But its hard doing it on a budget

Racing it home to beat the heat

Unpack and finish up with no time to spare

All of a sudden

It’s time for school pick up.

Drowning – Poem

I’ve been treading water for awhile now

but I’m starting to drown

don’t say you love anymore

if you honestly think you do indeed love me

maybe you need to look in the mirror and

ask yourself what you think love is

I’m sick of the excuses, apologies and

broken promises you dish out

I’m tired of making myself believe you will change

I’m tired of making myself believe you truly love me

I know better now

I was so busy being your anchor

I didn’t realise I was drowning

WRITING PROMPT for the week

This years goal was to get out of my rut of being so introverted. the past few years I have turned into a hermit crab and haven’t really socialised. I really feel that I am not so much introverted, but more someone that needs to find friends with the same interest as me. So, I decided to fill in as much blank space in my calendar as I could with local group and meetings I could attend, Anything and everything to do with creative writing and art.

This years has begun fantastic, It’s only March and I have attended many group meetings already and have met some wonderful local artist and writers.

this weeks writers group had focused on historical fiction. which was great as I have never done any kind of historical fiction writing before, and the writing prompts were fantastic!

I am really enjoying it and I am so glad to finally get out of my rut and connect with wonderful people.

Writing Prompt for the week is…

Describe a house to keep us guessing right up to the end: what type it is, what era it’s from etc.

have fun and comment your writing prompts below…

Until next week, love and peace

I’m Learning To Paint on top of my daily writing and drawing… Here’s my first colour painting…

I had the chance to spend a few fantastic hours with a friend of mine at an art workshop with a local Hervey Bay Artist teaching us to paint. Shelly is such an incredible artist and I am really looking forward to spending each Friday creating art pieces.

For my first piece, I chose to work on is a turtle, however it isn’t a Mary River Turtle. I decided on a sea turtle since the back ground inspiration came from the skirt I wore that day.

Now, I know it’s different from my usual black and white pieces, So, I am happy, nervous and excited to share my painting journey with you. Learning to paint and use colours, Wow… It’s scary taking on another path but I must say this path is so much fun already.

Here’s my first step into my first ever colour painting…

Excited to see how this one turns out as the weeks go by…

Also I found out that Shelly has painted a huge Mary River Turtle Mural in the local area (Maryborough), So I shared my story about the Mary River Turtles and the book I have just finished writing (and just so happened, I had it on me).

The Final Draft of my children’s picture book completed!

I have just completed the final draft of my first children’s picture book called “The Bum Breathing Turtle” which will be a series on unique and forgotten animals of Australia.

I feel so happy and a complete mess at the same time. I have worked so hard on this project and now it’s time for the long hard process of finding an illustrator and going for the next step which means having having others to read and judge my baby! Scary but Exciting at the same time.

Me excited to print my final draft!
